Emergency Relief: Sri Lanka Flooded due to Torrential Rains...


Assalaamu Alaykum WaRahmatuallahi WaBarakatahu

Torrential rains in the eastern province of Sri Lanka have caused severe flooding. It has been the worst rainfall recorded in the last 100 years.

According to Center of Disaster Management in Sri Lanka 1.8 million people have been displaced. According to the weather forecast these rains are going to continue. The death toll is continuing to rise, UN Reports that at least 37 people have been confirmed dead.

Many families have been temporarily sheltered at schools and other public places because the floods have destroyed their houses.

For immediate emergency response HHRD partners have started providing cooked meals to the victims of the floods.

Dry rations are being provided to the poor and needy. Contents of dry ration are as follows: rice, flour, sugar, tea, lentils, salt, powder milk and infant milk food.

Immediate funds are needed to help the victims of these devastating floods. They will need our emergency relief response and continued support through this hour of need.
